BRIDIA CIRCUIT
This short route is well sign-posted and takes in a portion of the Kerry Way in the shadow of Broaghnabinnia. You will have to find parking by the roadside without obstructing traffic or blocking any gates.
At the very end of the Bridia Valley where the road ends, cross a stile and follow the path around farmland at the foot of the mountain. You are walking at the foot of two mountain ranges, MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and the Dunkerron. The source of the River Caragh springs from Broaghnabinnia, flowing into Caragh Lake and eventually into Castlemaine Harbour via the Lower Caragh. Instead of following the Kerry Way up to the mountain pass, loop back to the road.
The Bridia Valley is one of the most remote places in Ireland, home to only a few scattered farms and a collection of ruins from various centuries. You won’t have phone reception, so bring a map.
